Italian businesses encouraged to invest in Vietnam
(VOV) - The Vietnam-Italy business and investment forum was held in Florence, the capital city of Tuscany region on April 22.
Present were nearly 200 representatives of both Vietnamese and Italian businesses. Addressing the forum, deputy minister of foreign affairs Nguyen Phuong Nga encouraged them to help strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment and tourism.
She said with its political stability and open investment environment, hard working young workforce, Vietnam is an attractive and reliable destination for investors. So far, Vietnam has attracted more than US$180 billion in foreign investment from 89 nations and territories. In 2012 alone, it got nearly US$7.4 billion in ODA.
Nga emphasized that there are major opportunities for Italian businesses to invest in the fields of infrastructure, transport, electricity and water supply and that they will be offered favorable conditions like Piaggio Vietnam.
Italian ambassador to Vietnam Lorenzo Angeloni highlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic developments over the past 20 years, which have laid a firm foundation for Vietnam to fulfill targets in the next ten years.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will be a gateway for them to penetrate other markets in ASEAN.
