Hai Duong attracts US$3 billion in FDI

(VOV) -Industrial parks (IPs) in the northern province of Hai Duong have attracted 163 projects invested by 30 countries and territories around the world, with total registered capital of US$3 billion.

The figure was released at a ceremony in Hai Duong on May 13 to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the province’s IPs management board and receive the Government's third-class Labour Order.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Hieu praised the provincial IPs management board’s efforts to effectively explore its potential and advantages, such as geological position and abundant labour force, to develop infrastructure, protect the environment and attract more investment projects.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will continue closely coordinating with provincial authorities to create favourable conditions for business operation and projects underway in the province, thus making active contributions to the nation’s industrialization and modernization process.

Hai Duong is improving business climate and calling for large-scale projects with high technological values to boost socio-economic development and generate more income for local workers.

Most foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the locality are focusing on electronics, electricity, and garments and textiles. Many of them are funded by big groups from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), Canada, Malaysia, and France.

At present, investment license procedures are being finalized for two projects in Dai An IP - one on building Canada international hospital at an estimated cost of US$200 million, and another, capitalized at US$65 million, on building offices and houses for Japanese firms.
