Dong Nai: FDI attraction triples in first quarter
The southern province of Dong Nai attracted US$448 million of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first three months of this year, an increase of 311% against the same period last year and accounting for 48.8% of the yearly plan.
Of the figure, over US$190.5 million was registered to 21 new projects and the remaining US$297.4 million went into 21 existing projects, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
Notable projects in the quarter included a carton manufacturing plant worth US$24 million under Japan’s Ssang Jung Vina and a machinery factory with registered capital of US$26 million from Japan’s Samshin Vina company.
Dong Nai is now home to 1,577 FDI projects worth over US$28.3 billion with 1,208 projects remaining active with US$23.79 billion and 369 others revoked with US$4.52 billion.
The projects are from 43 countries and territories, lead by Chinese Taiwan , followed by the Republic of Korea and Japan.
