The six international mediators on the Iran nuclear issue have agreed on a new resolution on Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) may adopt it on November 18, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

After meeting with visiting EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on November 17, Lavrov told a press conference in Moscow that the resolution reflects the common approaches of the six powers, namely the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany, who are also in the IAEA board of governors.

Ashton expressed her belief that dialogue is the best way to address the Iran nuclear issue, but stressed the European Union is still waiting for Iran to prove that the country is not seeking nuclear weapons.

She added that the international community should pressure Iran to fulfill its obligations that the country has agreed before on the issue.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said the information contained in the agency's latest report on Iran's nuclear program is credible. In the report, IAEA said that Iran had carried out "organized and systematical" activities "specific to nuclear weapons" at least until the end of 2003.

Western powers suspect Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons. However, Iran denies accusations, saying its program is of a civilian nature.
