A human chess contest has been organized in Nha Trang city in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, drawing the participation of a large number of players and supporters.

The two-day contest, part of celebrations of the traditional lunar New Year (Tet) Festival, took place at the April 2 Square on the third and fourth day of the first lunar month to welcome the Spring 2008 (the Year of the Rat).

Human chess is a folk game which is often held during festivals and represents the talent and martial art of the Vietnamese people.

Chess player Luong Hai Duong won the gold medal after defeating Ho Sy Huy Cuong in the final round of the contest.
