Honeywell Group, specialising in automation and control solutions, officially opened its representative office in Ho Chi Minh City on October 20.

Honeywell plans to develop its rep. office in Vietnam to a regional level in Asia by 2008. With an initial staff of five engineers, Honeywell plans to have at least 30 Vietnamese engineers from now to 2010 to get Digital Security Controls (DSC) and Safety certificates in order to provide after-sales and project management services in Vietnam.
Desmond Teo, Vice Management Director of Honeywell Process Solution Asia Pacific, said Vietnam's economy and its strong development over the past decade, has brought opportunities to businesses involved in energy industry. He said with his company's rep. office Vietnamese businesses will have better access to key technologies.

Honeywell has won a contract to provide a US$17.5 million control system to the Dung Quat oil refinery, the first of its kind in Vietnam, in central Quang Ngai province.
