”Spending 60 years of his life engaging in revolutionary activities, Le Duan set a bright example of a brave and staunch revolutionary soldier who devoted his life to the cause of national liberation, national unification and socialism construction, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

A grand meeting was held in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Hall to mark the 100th birth anniversary of late Party General Secretary Le Duan (April 7).


The meeting was attended by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former Party General Secretaries Do Muoi, Le Kha Phieu, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, former State Presidents Le Duc Anh, Tran Duc Luong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Phu Trong, former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An and others.


“Spending 60 years of his life engaging in revolutionary activities, Le Duan set a bright example of a brave and staunch revolutionary soldier who devoted his life to the cause of national liberation, national unification and socialism construction. His name and career will always be attached to the glorious victories of the Vietnamese revolution in the 20th century. Being a true Marxist-Leninist, Le Duan always thought deeply, analysed and dealt with issues based on new developments. His insights were always valuable at the historical milestones and during complicated situations. His positive contributions and bright example will shrine forever”, said Mr Manh.


During the 26 consecutive years in his capacity as the First Secretary and the Party General Secretary, Le Duan was seen as a steadfast politician, an outstanding strategist, a model communist, a talented ideologist and a major intellectual of the Vietnamese revolutionary who made lasting ideological contributions.


Following Le Duan’s example, Party leader Manh called on the entire Party, people and soldiers to unite, overcome all difficulties and challenges to fulfill all assigned tasks set by the resolutions adopted at the 10th National Party Congress, to properly implement the movement “Following the Late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” towards achieving the goal of a rich people, a powerful country, an equal, democratic and civilized society.
