The conference, held by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), reviewed WFTU activities in 2009 and discussed a plan to organise the 16^th WFTU congress, which is scheduled for April in Greece.

In 2009, the federation launched campaigns to protect workers worldwide who were hit by the financial crisis, and took measures against the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, the Middle East, and Africa.

At the conference, delegates stressed the need to strengthen international solidarity toward common goals of protesting the financial capitalism and protecting workers, young people, women and migrant workers.

The conference also called for trade unions to engage in WFTU activities.
