Vietravel Airlines welcomes second Airbus aircraft

Vietravel Airlines on August 4 officially welcomed its second owned aircraft, an Airbus A320, at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, marking a new milestone in the airline’s efforts to enhance operational capacity and pursue sustainable development.

The newly acquired plane, registration number VN-A136, features a 182-seat configuration and is scheduled to enter service this August following the completion of technical maintenance procedures.

This follows the delivery of Vietravel Airlines’ first owned Airbus A321 at the end of June 2025. These acquisitions reflect the airline’s aircraft transition from leasing to ownership, made possible through strategic cooperation with its key investor, T&T Group.

The Airbus A321/A320 family is among the most widely used narrow-body aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region thanks to its high operational efficiency and fuel economy. These aircraft are well-suited for both domestic routes and short- to medium international flights. Vietravel Airlines’ selection of this aircraft family also allows the company to tap into existing maintenance infrastructure and parts supply, and take advantage of the region’s abundant pool of qualified pilots and technical personnel.

The continued expansion of its owned fleet represents a strategic move by Vietravel Airlines amid an increasingly competitive aviation sector that demands strong capital investment.

With a gradually expanding fleet, the airline aims to improve operational efficiency, standardise its services, and lay a solid foundation for future route expansion, thus realising its vision of becoming a green, professional, modern, and sustainable airline.

Developing an owned fleet enables Vietravel Airlines to take full control of its operations and service quality, while underscoring its long-term commitment to customers and the market, Chairman of the Board of Directors Do Vinh Quang said, adding that it laid the foundation for a sustainable development strategy capable of competing at the regional level.

Vietravel Airlines is currently finalising procedures to receive its third owned aircraft. At the same time, the airline actively engages in negotiations with aircraft manufacturers and international carriers to expand its fleet and route network. By 2030, it aims to operate between 30 and 50 aircraft, with routes covering Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East.

The airline has also recently launched its Premium class - an upgraded fare category designed to enhance passenger experience with benefits such as more spacious seating, priority services both on the ground and in the air, and other exclusive privileges.
