Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Le Hoang Quan, has granted a business license to a project to build Thu Thiem software park, with a total investment of US$1.2 billion.

The investment certificate was granted on June 16 to the Chairman of Taiwanese Teco group, Huang Mao Hsiung, who is also president of Singapore-based TA Associates International.

The park is considered the largest project if its kind as it will cover 15.9 ha and employ 70,000 software experts. In addition, it will have a training centre, a trading centre, residential areas and offices for lease.

It is estimated that the software park will earn as much as US$6.5 billion a year when it comes into full operation.
