Vietnamese textile enterprises proactively respond to trade risks

VOV.VN - Amid pressure from the US reciprocal tax policy, Vietnamese textile enterprises are carrying out various solutions to maintain growth momentum and enhance their position in the global supply chain.

Market expansion, product diversification, digital transformation, and green transition are strategic directions being adopted by Vietnamese textile enterprises.

Truong Van Cam, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), said that companies are focusing on diversifying markets, expanding exports to countries that have signed FTAs with Vietnam, reviewing and optimizing the entire supply chain, from raw material imports to production and exports, while also enhancing transparency regarding the origin of materials. This not only meets the requirements for origin rules but also provides a competitive advantage in the international market.

"This is an opportunity for textile enterprises to improve their internal capabilities to meet market demands. If we do not have real capabilities and fail to meet market requirements, we cannot exploit opportunities. Enterprises are focusing all their resources on resolving pending orders and ensuring exports before the US lifts the temporary suspension," Cam shared.

As of April 15, Vietnam's textile export turnover reached nearly US$12 billion, up 8.7% compared to the same period from last year.

Despite global economic fluctuations, the Vietnamese textile industry still holds many advantages, such as a vast, skilled workforce and large-scale production.

However, to solidify their position in the global value chain, companies need to gradually shift from simple outsourcing to ODM (original design manufacturing) and OBM (original brand manufacturing) production methods to increase value and move up to higher segments in the global textile supply chain.
