The shipment was exported by Blue Ocean Trading Import-Export JSc and distributed in Australia by 4Ways, a firm specialising in the import and distribution of Vietnamese agricultural produce. In addition to Sydney, the juicy fruit is being transported for sale to other major cities, including Melbourne and Perth.

The launch ceremony in Sydney was attended by Tran Thi Thanh My, deputy consul general of Vietnam in Sydney and head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, along with Ly Hoang Duy, a Vietnamese-Australian entrepreneur and founder of 4Ways.

The introduction of fresh Vietnamese pomelo into the Australian market marks a significant milestone in expanding the global footprint of Vietnam’s agricultural exports. Australia is widely regarded as one of the most demanding markets, with stringent requirements in terms of technical standards, biosecurity, and product quality.

Earlier, on April 13, a ceremony was held to mark the export of the first batch of Vietnamese pomelo to Australia, with the participation of representatives from the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as well as leaders of Dong Thap province.

The market access process for the fruit took approximately two years of close coordination between authorities and businesses from both countries, involving technical negotiations and compliance with Australia’s strict import protocols.

Previously, several Vietnamese fruits had already been officially exported to Australia, including lychee, longan, dragon fruit, mango, coconut, and passion fruit. In October 2024, Blue Ocean also exported its first shipment of passion fruit to Australia.
