Vietnamese garment exports to UK head towards US$1 billion milestone

VOV.VN - A delegation of 10 Vietnamese garment and textile companies is taking part in Source Fashion London from July 5 to 14 to expand business opportunities in the UK market, with the aim of helping garment exports to the UK surpass the US$1 billion mark in the near future.

The delegation is presenting products and manufacturing capabilities through 10 exhibition booths, while the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) has set up a separate pavilion introducing Vietnam's garment and textile industry. Products on display include jackets, denim, dresses, womenswear and a wide range of fabrics tailored to demand in the UK and European markets.

Source Fashion London is one of the largest and most established business-to-business (B2B) fashion trade fairs in the UK and Europe, gathering manufacturers and suppliers from countries including Vietnam, China, India and Turkey with retailers, designers and leading fashion brands.

According to VITAS, the event offers Vietnamese companies opportunities to connect with potential buyers, secure new orders, gain insights into fashion and consumer trends, better understand technical requirements in the UK and EU markets, identify suitable sources of raw materials, strengthen their competitiveness and make better use of free trade agreements.

As buyers in the UK and other international markets continue to tighten sustainability requirements, greater emphasis is being placed on green products, recyclability, traceability and suppliers' social responsibility. Direct engagement with importers will help Vietnamese companies adjust production to better meet market requirements, improve compliance with international standards and respond more effectively to market demand.

Garment and textile products are among Vietnam's leading exports to the UK. According to Vietnam Customs, the country’s exports to the UK exceeded US$8.3 billion in 2025, up 11.2% from a year earlier, with four product groups each generating more than US$1 billion in export value.

Garment and textile exports alone hit close to US$900 million, up 16.9% from 2024. In the first half of 2026, exports to the UK topped US$442 million, broadly unchanged in line with the same period last year.

With ampled room for growth and the advantages offered by the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), garment and textile exports to the UK are expected to surpass the US$1 billion mark in the time to come.
