Vietnamese firms urged to join global expo in US

Many Vietnamese firms will have the opportunity to introduce their made-in-Vietnam products and services at the first international exhibition, called Global Expo 2019, which is scheduled to be held in September.

Grand Aster USA Company and the HCMC branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly held a meeting on April 26 in HCMC to announce the coming expo.

Coorganized by the Grand Aster USA firm and non-profit organization We Care for Humanity, Global Expo 2019 will take place from September 20 to 22 at Anaheim Convention Center in California.

Covering some 10,000 square meters of floor space, the expo is expected to gather over 400 exhibitors from Vietnam, the U.S., and other countries.

Notably, Grand Aster USA looks to attract some 200 Vietnamese firms to join the expo, with an aim at promoting Vietnamese brands, said Duc Le, chairman of the board of directors at Grand Aster USA.

Local firms operating in the fields of farm produce, seafood, food-foodstuff; handicraft and consumer products; construction and interior design; information technology and digital technology, are encouraged to display their products at the show, said Duc.

Many companies and units had earlier sought to organize a trade fair overseas for Vietnamese firms to promote locally-made products on the global market, but had yet to finalize such an exhibition. As such, the upcoming expo is the first event to be held, mainly targeting local exhibitors, Duc added.

The Grand Aster representative said he could see the potential for Vietnamese products in the U.S market through growing trading activities between the two countries.

Many local products have been increasingly shipped to the U.S., particularly textile-garments and footwear items. Additionally, Vietnamese mango has recently been approved as the sixth local fruit to enter the U.S., following by dragon fruit, rambutan, longan, litchi, and star apple, he said.

Global Expo 2019 is among a series of events hosted by We Care For Humanity and G.O.D Awards. It is expected to attract some 10,000 visitors this year.
