Vietnamese firms seek partners at chocolate and coffee fair in Algeria

VOV.VN - The seventh International Chocolate and Coffee Fair (CHOCAF) officially opened on February 4 (local time) at the Conference and Exhibition Centre in Oran, attracting around 60 businesses, experts and visitors from various localities across Algeria as well as from countries worldwide, including Vietnam.

The event, organised by Vision Future under the patronage of Algeria’s Ministry of Vocational Training and Education, is regarded as one of the country’s most important specialised trade fairs, providing a platform that connects producers, equipment and material suppliers, as well as artisans and experts in the premium food processing sector.

The fair, which runs until February 7, showcases the entire value chain of the coffee and chocolate production industry, from raw materials and machinery to finished products such as confectionery, chocolate and coffee.

In addition to exhibition booths, CHOCAF 2026 also features cooking demonstrations, skills competitions and professional exchange activities, contributing to innovation, skills enhancement and the promotion of product quality.

Nguyen Huyen Tram, General Director of Phuoc An Coffee, said she attended the fair to introduce the company’s products, study the market, including Algerian coffee tastes, and explore investment models in the country. During her business trip to Algeria, she said she felt the special affection Algerian people have for Vietnamese people and expressed hope that the company would be able to export its products to this potential market.

Last year, Algeria imported more Vietnamese coffee than the US,  traditionally Vietnam’s major buyer. Algeria accounted for about 6.5% of Vietnam’s total coffee output, while the US made up 5.9%.

Hoang Duc Nhuan, Vietnamese Trade Counsellor in Algeria, said Vietnam’s coffee exports to the North African country reached 89,336 tonnes in 2025, with turnover of nearly US$455 million, up 161% in volume and 257% in value compared with 2024. Coffee currently contributes nearly 85% of Vietnam’s total export turnover to Algeria.
