Vietnamese designer debuts at Paris Haute Couture Week FW25
VOV.VN - Making his debut at the prestigious Fall-Winter 2025 Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris, one of the world’s most renowned fashion runways, Vietnamese designer Nguyen Tien Truyen has left a lasting impression with a unique collection, showcasing his bold creativity and exquisite craftsmanship.

Truyen collaborated with renowned Swiss designer Kevin Germanier to close the show with a visually striking collection. Among the 27 designs presented, the Vietnamese designer contributed 12 standalone creations, which displayed his signature blend of surrealism, technical complexity, and high-fashion detailing.
The Haute Couture Week FW25 dazzled global fashion enthusiasts with avant-garde collections that pushed the boundaries of imagination and craftsmanship. But it was the grand finale by Germanier and Truyen that became a defining moment, not only for the vibrant showcase, but also because it marked the first time a Vietnamese designer presented at Haute Couture Week in Paris.
Each of Truyen’s pieces drew inspiration from a surreal world of fantastical creatures and hybrid flora.
“I was inspired by mutated flowers and animals reimagined through a surreal lens,” he shared. “The biggest challenge was to merge that vision with my personal identity and Germanier’s design language.”
The designs featured a variety of luxurious materials, including silk, velvet, feathers, metallic plastics, crystals, and pearls, all hand-embellished with meticulous attention to detail. The silhouettes were constructed with complex tailoring techniques to ensure precision in structure and fit.
A symbolic motif throughout Truyen’s collection was the red-crowned crane, an Asian icon of longevity and aspiration. The bird also represented a personal thread in Truyen’s journey, as it was the emblem that brought him victory on Project Runway Vietnam.
“This symbol connects my roots in Vietnam to my first steps on the Haute Couture stage in Paris,” he explained.

The collaboration came about organically when Germanier discovered Truyen’s designs on social media, instantly drawn to his controlled rebelliousness and imaginative use of materials and structure. The Swiss designer praised his Vietnamese partner, saying Truyen is highly creative, sharp-minded, and incredibly disciplined. He not only has great aesthetics, but also understands the full mechanics of building and showcasing a collection.
For the young designer, this appearance at Paris Haute Couture Week is not just a career milestone, but a purposeful step forward for Vietnamese fashion on the global stage.
“I didn’t come here just to be seen, I came to leave a mark and to show that Vietnamese designers have what the fashion world is looking for,” he stated.
“Every runway show opens a new door. For me, Paris marks the beginning of a longer, farther, and deeper journey,” Truyen concluded.
