Vietnamese chrysanthemum exports to Japan hit US$31 million
VOV.VN - Vietnam exported US$30.45 million worth of chrysanthemums to Japan in the first eight months of 2026, making the flower the highest-value item among 20 products tracked in the Japanese market.
According to customs data, Vietnam’s chrysanthemum exports in eight months accounted for around 17.6% of the combined US$173 million export value of the 20 products tracked.
The results underscore Japan’s importance as a destination for Vietnamese chrysanthemums. In 2025, exports of the flower to this market reached US$43.6 million, up 7.01% from 2024.
Japan has relatively steady demand for chrysanthemums, which are widely used in everyday life as well as in cultural and religious practices. This helps sustain demand beyond major holidays, festivals and special occasions.
Japanese import data show that the country imported around 9,097 tonnes of chrysanthemums from Vietnam in 2024, up 12.1% year on year. Imports totalled nearly 8,700 tonnes in the first 11 months of 2025.
In addition to market demand, competitive prices and the ability to supply flowers throughout the year have helped Vietnamese chrysanthemums maintain their competitiveness in Japan.
Lam Dong is one of Vietnam’s key chrysanthemum-producing localities, with concentrated growing areas and the adoption of high-tech farming methods.
Modern production practices help ensure supply volumes, flower quality and the ability to fulfil orders. For fresh-cut flowers, a stable supply and consistent quality are important to maintaining long-term relationships with importers.
To maintain market share and increase export value, businesses are urged to focus on quality control on cultivation areas, packaging and transportation, while also ensuring all documentation and quarantine requirements mandated by the importing markets.
