Vietnamese businesses optimistic about FTAs

A seminar was held in HCM City on June 17 to emphasize the need for domestic businesses to enhance competitiveness and effective use of human resources with the the framework of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

A representative from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) said apart from boosting trade and diversifying exports, FTAs require close coordination between the State and private sectors in improving export-import business.

Hirotaka Yasuzumi, Executive Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in HCM City, suggested both State agencies and businesses should have good planning.

Other experts spoke of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership’s would-be benefits to ASEAN, FTA trends and the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), regulations on the origin of goods in Asia, and the future application and implementation of FTAs and Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA) in Vietnam.
