Vietnamese businesses invest in 712 projects abroad

(VOV) - Vietnamese businesses currently have investments in 712 foreign projects located in 56 countries around the globe, according to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
The agency said that in total Vietnamese businesses have cumulatively invested roughly US$17.7 billion of which over US$4.97 billion has been pumped into such fields as mineral exploration (including oil and gas), agro-forestry industry, hydroelectricity, communications information, finance, banking and insurance.
However, to date the return on investment earned by the businesses has been modest, just US$675 million, largely attributable to the long-term nature of the investments and lengthy maturity periods required them to fully develop.
