A meeting was held in Potsdam, Germany on February 27 to mark the 20th development anniversary of Vietnamese businesses in the State of Brandenburg.

The meeting provided a good chance for Vietnamese businesses in Brandenburg to meet, exchange experiences and review their economic and trade activities over the past 20 years and devise activities for the future.

Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Women and Family, Guenter Baaske, and vice mayor of Potsdam city, Burghard Exner, and other leaders expressed their admiration for the industriousness and solidarity of Vietnamese businesses to help each other overcome difficulties.

The President of the Thang Long Business Association, Nguyen Quoc Hung, emphasised that over the past 20 years, the Vietnamese business community in Brandenburg has developed strongly in both quantity and quality, which helps strengthen economic ties between Vietnam and Germany.

Brandenburg has actively boosted economic and trade ties with Vietnam in recent years. In September 2009, the State’s Ministry of Economy and the Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a co-operative agreement to foster business exchange, investment promotion and import-export activities between the two sides.

Within the framework of “Vietnam Year in Germany” and “Germany Year in Vietnam”,  2010 will see a wide range of activities getting underway to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
