Vietnam welcomes broader cooperation with Italian partners
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Phuong Anh delivered remarks at the fourth Annual International Meeting 2026 (AIM2026) at the invitation of Marco Natali, President of the Confederation of Italian Professional Associations (Confprofessioni).
The conference was jointly organized by Confprofessioni and the Association for Internationalisation Professionals (APRI International).
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Anh said Vietnam is entering a new stage of development focused on strategic autonomy, green transition and innovation, while emerging as a strategic manufacturing and logistics hub in ASEAN.
With bilateral trade nearing US$8 billion, Italy remains Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner in the European Union (EU).
The Ambassador highlighted the strong strategic complementarity between the two countries, noting that Italy has strengths in technology and global design, while Vietnam offers manufacturing capacity and broad access to ASEAN and Asia-Pacific markets.
Vietnam is ready to welcome Italian partners seeking expanded cooperation in technology transfer, artificial intelligence (AI), green infrastructure and vocational training, she emphasized.
Leading Italian corporations operating in Vietnam, including Leonardo, Fincantieri and Piaggio, have received effective support from major Italian financial and insurance institutions such as SIMEST, SACE and ICE.
In addition, Italy’s 500 million-euro financial commitment to Vietnam under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) has opened up major opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy and high technology.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Anh said the Vietnamese Embassy in Rome stays ready to support Italian partners in turning cooperation opportunities into concrete projects, particularly ahead of a planned visit to Vietnam by a delegation of Italian businesses and experts in November.
AIM2026 is a reputable international conference that connects ideas, strategies and cooperation initiatives aimed at boosting Italy’s export development agenda.
Senior Italian government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, also attended the conference and delivered remarks.
