Vietnam-US business links expanded through chambers of commerce

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Trade Office in Houston, under the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, has launched a host of activities to connect and introduce major Vietnamese enterprises through the network of US chambers of commerce in the southern United States.

The move aims to promote trade and investment, expand market access and strengthen business linkages in industry, trade and import-export services at the start of 2026.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Houston recently held an in-person roundtable with two US business associations and representatives of THACO Industries.

The event featured the participation of more than 60 delegates from businesses in both countries. Several Vietnamese enterprises and organisations joined online, including CMC Global of the CMC Technology Group, representatives of industrial parks, the Trade and Investment Promotion Support Centre under the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), as well as professors and experts working at US and Vietnamese agencies.

Since 2025, the Vietnam Trade Office in Houston has introduced several US partner enterprises to THACO Industries to facilitate trade, production and investment cooperation. US businesses have since sent delegations to Vietnam to visit the Chu Lai Industrial Park, and the partners are gradually moving forward with cooperation in manufacturing and import-export activities.

At events organised by the Trade Office, representatives of major Vietnamese enterprises, including THACO Industries and CMC Global, presented their capabilities, development orientations for the US market, partner-search plans and projects across a range of industrial and high-technology sectors.

The companies also had opportunities to engage with U.S. business associations and chambers of commerce, which serve as key connectors for hundreds of enterprises across multiple sectors, to exchange information and explore cooperation opportunities.

During the early-2026 roundtable, Professors Huynh The Du and Tran Luong Son, Vietnamese scholars working in the United States, joined discussions with participating partners on topics related to economic and trade development, technology transfer, start-ups and practical experience in the US market.

Contributions from enterprises of both countries also focused on market information sharing, partner-search needs, economic models, import-export and investment solutions, and business development trends for 2026.

Sharing experience in connecting US partners with foreign enterprises, Jagdip Ahluwalia, Executive Director and representative of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Houston, advised that companies should avoid rushing to seek partners independently when first entering a new market such as the US.

Instead, he said, businesses should work with local partners, professional agencies, licensed consultants or industry associations, including Vietnamese trade offices, to assess partner capabilities, thereby ensuring more sustainable and effective cooperation.

Meanwhile, Sam Chang, a representative of the Asian Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in Houston, which has more than 500 member companies across various sectors, expressed readiness to share experience and support Asian enterprises entering the US market. He noted that the ACC has established a dedicated unit to support the Vietnamese market.

To further assist Vietnamese enterprises expanding into the US, the Vietnam Trade Office in Houston invited Vietnamese-American entrepreneurs, business owners and consultants based in Houston to the early-year roundtable to share practical experience in establishing, managing and operating businesses in the US.

The participants expressed their intention to maintain close connections and contribute to the development of the Vietnam-US business and entrepreneurial network in the coming period.
