Vietnam to export first batch of bird's nests to China
VOV.VN - The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has officially granted approval for a Vietnamese enterprise to export bird's nests to the Chinese market, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The move comes following the GACC issuing an official note on November 3 to approve AVANEST Vietnam Nutrition Joint Stock Company’s move to export two types of products, including clean bird's nests and jarred bird's nests to the northern neighbour from October 20.
Accordingly, the Vietnamese Embassy in China sent a telegram to the Department of Animal Health on November 7 to announce China giving permission for AVANEST Vietnam Nutrition Joint Stock Company to export their bird's nest products to this market as of October 20.
The Department of Animal Health revealed that as of November 8, there have been 45 businesses registered to export bird's nests to China.
These firms have been guided by the Department of Animal Health as they monitor disease and food safety as required by the Chinese side. Among them, nine enterprises have completed export registration documents and have since submitted them to the GACC to be reviewed.
A ceremony to announce the export of the first batch of bird's nest products to China is due to take place on November 16 in the northern province of Lang Son.
The MARD and the GACC signed a protocol last year relating to requirements for quarantine, inspection, and veterinary hygiene for Vietnamese bird’s nests to be exported to China.
The protocol, which took effect in November last year, has laid the foundation for Vietnamese bird’s nests to conquer this market after Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
