Vietnam, Singapore enhance financial, investment and capital connectivity
VOV.VN -Senior officials from Vietnam and Singapore held a virtual Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) on September 16, 2026, in preparation for the 20th Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity Ministerial Meeting (CMM).
The SOM serves as a key mechanism under the CMM framework to review bilateral cooperation, discuss strategic directions, and outline priority areas and upcoming initiatives.
During the session, both sides positively evaluated bilateral achievements, particularly across economics, investment, agricultural trade, banking and finance, sustainable development, transport and infrastructure, energy, science and technology, and human resource development.
Delegates discussed new opportunities to promote economic integration, enhance business community ties, and facilitate trade, investment, and service flows between the two countries. The two sides agreed to leverage existing cooperation mechanisms while expanding into high-potential sectors in conformity with each nation's development priorities.
Discussions emphasized boosting financial and investment connectivity, supporting enterprises, developing infrastructure and logistics, advancing the digital economy, and pushing up innovation and emerging economic sectors.
Vietnam urged Singapore to share expertise, support capacity building, and strengthen links with Singaporean financial institutions, investment funds, enterprises, and partners in areas of mutual interest and potential.
The two sides consented to work closely together to finalize preparations for the upcoming 20th CMM in Singapore, aiming to consolidate bilateral outcomes and deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The Connectivity Ministerial Meeting, held annually on a rotating basis between Vietnam and Singapore, will convene in Singapore for its upcoming 20th edition.
