Vietnam plans aviation expansion

(VOV) -The Ministry of Transport has collected opinions on a project to restructure the aviation industry with the ambitious goal of significantly expanding the number of overseas flights at all of the nation’s international airports by 2020. 

Under the proposed project, Vietnam’s aviation market would rank fifth in the ASEAN region and its market shares for freight and international passengers would increase 45.9% by 2020.

Regarding the opening of new air routes in the 2015-2020 period, Vietnam Airlines will open new routes to the US (San Francisco, Los Angeles), India (New Delhi, Mumbai) and New Zealand (Wellington), UAE (Dubai), Dubai), Qatar (Doha), Australia (Brisbane, Perth).

During the period, Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air will operate freighter fleets from Vietnam to destinations in South East Asia, North East and South Asia.
