Vietnam imports 7,789 cars during first half of February

VOV.VN - The country spent a total of US$162.53 million on importing 7,789 completely built-up (CBU) cars of all kinds throughout the first 15 days of February, according to figures released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The most imported vehicles were cars with nine seats or fewer, at a total of 6,260 units worth US$123.37 million. 

Between the beginning of the year and February 15, the nation imported 22,246 CBU cars with a total value of US$470 million.

Most notably, Thailand regained its position from Indonesia to become the largest Vietnamese car exporter, with the number of autos imported from Thailand amounting to roughly 6,693 worth US$125.47 million.

Indonesia came second with nearly 6,179 cars valued at US$89.7 million being shipped to the country in the reviewed period, followed by the United States with 432 cars valued at US$28.4 million, and China with 328 cars worth US$11.26 million.

The number of cars imported from these four major markets accounted for 94.3% of the country’s total car imports during the reviewed period.
