The International Cooperation Company has handed over a completed project on border villages in the northern province of Houaphanh, Laos, to the provincial authority.

The project, which started in 2005, aimed to help the Lao people in remote and isolated areas develop production and benefit from national socio-economic development, while ensure security and order in border areas.

Under the project, seven sections of road, with a total length of 75km, three village halls, 16 schools, three medical centers and a number of irrigation projects were built.

The project, carried out in the districts of Vienthong, Xammneua and Ett, cost 81 billion Laos Kip (nearly VND15 billion or US$0.8 million). 60 percent of the capital was provided by the Laos Government and 40 percent from Vietnamese.
