Vietnam, Germany enhance innovation and startup ecosystem links
VOV.VN - Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the Vietnam National Innovation Centre (NIC), and Professor Dr Jan Kratzer, Academic Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 24 in Berlin.
The MoU marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in innovation, startups and strategic technology sectors.
The MoU signing followed a proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung during his visit and working session with CfE on March 23.
The Deputy PM spoke highly of CfE’s reputation and its leading role in building Germany’s innovation startup ecosystem, and called on CfE and NIC to strengthen cooperation to support Vietnamese universities, research institutes and organisations in training and scientific research.
“The aim is to bring successful ecosystems to support Vietnamese startups and help domestic startups expand abroad,” he said.
Cooperation between NIC and CfE focuses on developing joint training programmes for startups; organising technology forums, thematic workshops and startup competitions; cooperation in incubation and acceleration; exchanges of startups, students and researchers; and carrying out joint research projects in strategic technology fields of both sides.
The MoU between NIC and CfE of TU Berlin will help boost cooperation between the two sides and create opportunities to connect the innovation ecosystems of Vietnam and Germany. Through this cooperation, resources in knowledge, technology and investment are expected to be mobilised more effectively, thus supporting startup communities and technology enterprises, and contributing to digital transformation and innovation-driven economic development in Vietnam.
TU Berlin is one of Germany’s leading technical universities, with strengths in research, technology development and promoting sustainable development.
In the field of innovation, TU Berlin is a co-founder of the Science & Startups network, a joint startup platform of three major universities in Berlin, including TU Berlin, Humboldt University and Freie Universität Berlin.
On average each year, TU Berlin’s startup ecosystem supports around 40 high-tech startup projects, of which about 10 companies are successfully established.
CfE facilitates startup, innovation and research commercialisation activities at the university, acting as a bridge between scientists, students and investors.
