Vietnam expands trade and investment cooperation with Pakistan
VOV.VN - In a significant step toward enhancing bilateral economic relations, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade recently led a trade delegation to Pakistan to promote business partnerships, trade exchanges, and investment opportunities between the two countries.

The mission, conducted under the 2025 National Trade Promotion Programme, coincided with the official visit of Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien to Pakistan to launch negotiations for a Vietnam–Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), signaling a new phase of economic collaboration.
On October 14, the delegation participated in the Vietnam–Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad, which attracted more than 100 enterprises from key sectors such as textiles, footwear, agriculture, food processing, construction materials, consumer goods, logistics, and technology. Both sides discussed trade policies, investment environments, and sector-specific strengths, with a focus on exploring distribution partnerships, joint ventures, and manufacturing cooperation.
Following the forums plenary session, a dynamic B2B networking event enabled businesses to directly engage in over 100 matchmaking meetings, helping firms explore distribution partnerships and production collaboration.
Two days later, the delegation held a business dialogue with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), one of Pakistan’s largest and most influential business organisations. LCCI Chairman Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol voiced strong support for closer trade and investment ties with Vietnam, emphasising the PTA’s potential as a vital driver for increased bilateral trade.
During the meeting, firms from both sides exchanged detailed information on trade regulations, product standards, tariff frameworks, and market entry strategies. Le Thi Bich Thuy, head of the International Business Market Development at Vinamilk, said the event allowed her firm to connect with several promising Pakistani partners showing interest in its wide range of dairy and beverage products.
As part of the program, the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan, engaged with the Honourary Consulate of Vietnam in Pakistan, local import-export businesses, and surveyed various retail systems, trade centres, and traditional markets in both Islamabad and Lahore.
The trade mission to Pakistan yielded highly positive results, strengthening economic and trade ties between the two countries and creating new opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to connect with the South Asian market. Both sides agreed to maintain active communication channels and to continue organising direct and virtual trade exchanges, exhibitions, trade fairs, and bilateral investment promotion activities in the near future.
