Vietnam attends High Point Market in US
(VOV) - Twice a year, anyone who’s anyone in furniture manufacturing and home goods gathers in the State of North Carolina in the US for the High Point Furniture Market. This year 11 Vietnamese business enterprises have made the trek.
The market is the largest home furniture industry trade show in the world, measuring over 900,000 square metres, encompassed in approximately 180 buildings throughout the area. The Vietnamese stall alone measures 320 square metres.
The participation of the Vietnamese enterprises in the six-day event, running from October 18-23, comes about as a result of a national trade promotion programme established in 2003 to market wood products in the US market.
Last year the nation’s timber exports to the US peaked at just over US$2 billion, showing a healthy year-on-year increase of 12.2%. Vietnam now ranks second in the list of top wood product exporters to the US, second only to China.
The Vietnamese businesses at the event are trying to take full advantage of the opportunity and are going all out with advertising in the form of pamphlets, flyers and mass mailings. They have also garnered the attention of prestigious US newspapers such as Furniture Today, Furniture World and Home Furnishing News.
