Vietnam-Argentina bilateral trade value hit record high
(VOV) - Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Argentina hit a record high of US$1.9 billion last year, a rise of 20.6% against a year earlier.
According to preliminary statistics released by Argentina Customs, Vietnam’s exports to the Latin American country reached US$214 million, up 5% and imports were valued at US$1.7 billion, up nearly 23%.
Vietnam’s major exports to Argentina include sports shoes (accounting for 46% of total export value), electronics and electrical equipment, garment, toys, plastic products, steel and mechanics equipment.
Meanwhile, it imports soybean residue, cereals, oilseeds, plant and animal oil, seafood, leather material and cotton from Argentina.
Argentina considers Vietnam one of the top 15 emerging dynamic economies in the world and prioritised export markets in 2014 and 2015.
Bilateral trade ties between the two countries tend to surge high while Argentina’s foreign trade transaction dipped strongly last year. In the first 11 months of 2014, the country’s exports dropped 12% to US$67.362 billion and imports declined by 11% to US$60.750 billion.
