Vietnam and India seek to make breakthroughs in e-commerce cooperation
VOV.VN - Nearly 100 business representatives and e-commerce experts from Vietnam and India attended a seminar in Noida, India, on April 1, to promote cross border e-commerce between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Do Quoc Hung, deputy director general of the Foreign Market Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, emphasized that the seminar represented a crucial step in strengthening economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and India, particularly in the context of accelerating digital transformation and global integration.
According to the trade official, Vietnam’s e-commerce market is experiencing remarkable growth, with projections reaching US$25 billion by 2024 and potentially US$40 billion within the next five years. Meanwhile, India is expected to surpass US$200 billion, reinforcing its position as a major e-commerce powerhouse in Asia.
During the seminar, Gaurav Gupta, founder president of the Global Trade & Technology Council (India), highlighted the key role of Indian technology in advancing digital trade with Vietnam. He noted that initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India were recognized as strong foundations for this development.
Experts at the event outlined both the advantages and challenges in Vietnam-India e-commerce cooperation. They said, while businesses can benefit from access to vast markets and lower transaction costs, they must also navigate legal barriers, tariff regulations, and logistical challenges.
The Vietnam – India Collaboration on Cross Border E-Commerce seminar was jointly Vietnam’s Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Vietnam Trade Office in India, and several Indian trade and industry organizations, including GTTCI, WASME, ECMEI, AAFT, and Marwah Studios.
