Vietnam Airlines inks deals, expand market in Republic of Korea
VOV.VN - The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines signed four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on multi-sector cooperation with Korean partners at a joint Vietnam–Republic of Korea economic forum in Seoul on August 12.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will cooperate with Korean partners in exploring the establishment of a joint venture for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); developing cargo transport services; and promoting tourism and building multi-destination tourism products.
In particular, Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines (VNA) signed a cooperation document with Korean Air to examine the creation of an MRO joint venture located at Long Thanh International Airport. The joint venture will operate in aircraft fuselage maintenance, component repair, cabin modification, technology transfer, and technical training.
Vietnam Airlines and Korean Air also agreed to strengthen cooperation in cargo transport, including freight sales cooperation, joint transport operations, and cargo services to expand international connectivity.
This partnership is seen as an effective solution to increase competitiveness, broaden market share in freight transport, and build a flexible cargo transport corridor between Vietnam, the RoK, and other markets, while boosting Vietnam’s import-export activities.
In the field of promoting bilateral tourism, Vietnam Airlines, together with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Saigontourist Group, signed MoU to develop unique, attractive and diverse tourism products in order to enhance the appeal of both countries.
These MoUs form part of a broader strategy to elevate bilateral cooperation, with Vietnam Airlines playing a key role in promoting regional cooperation, expanding flight networks and connecting the tourism-aviation-logistics ecosystem.
