Vietnam strives to produce 1.2 million tonnes of natural rubber in 2020, said Tran Thi Thuy Hoa, General Secretary of the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA) at the International Conference on Natural Rubber Extension and Development held in Kochi, India from May 8-9.
Speaking at the conference, Ms Hoa attributed the country’s increased rubber output to the expanded growing areas and the application of advanced techniques in production.
Vietnam’s natural rubber output is forecast to reach 601,700 tonnes in 2008, representing a 9.6 percent increase over last year. In 2007, the country had 549,600 ha of rubber trees, up 6.3 percent compared to the previous year.
