The Hanoi Department of Trade on July 19 officially announced two big economic events, which will take place in October 2007 - a “goods promotion month” from October 1-30 and the 2007 international trade fair from October 8-13 in the Giang Vo Exhibition and Fair Centre.

The two events aim to introduce famous products, services and businesses to domestic and foreign customers, attract tourists from abroad and other provinces to the capital, and promote municipal people’s consumption demands, contributing to the development of the capital economy.


According to the organising board, more than 100 businesses will participate in the “goods promotion month”, including commercial centres, supermarkets, shops, travel and tourism agents, restaurants and hotels.


There will be more than 300 booths at the international trade fair, displaying key industrial products, handicrafts, furniture, electric and electronic products, construction materials, garments, footwear, cosmetics, agriculture and processing products and services.


The organising board said so far many international organisations have registered to join the event, including trade offices of ASEAN countries’ embassies, the Netherlands, South Africa, Germany, China, and Australia, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the French Business Association, Eurocham, the Indian Business Association, the Singapore Business Association, and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers.
