Trade promotion seminar boosts Vietnam-Morocco business links
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Trade Office in Morocco recently hosted a trade promotion seminar in Casablanca aimed at connecting Vietnamese exporters with Moroccan importers and distribution networks.
The event drew representatives from the Casablanca Chamber of Commerce and more than 20 Moroccan companies involved in import, distribution, retail supermarket and international trade activities.
The seminar provided an opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s economic potential and boost the country’s key export products to the Moroccan business community.
Participants described Vietnam as one of Asia’s most deeply integrated economies, noting its participation in multiple free trade agreements and its growing role in global supply chains.
At the event, the Vietnamese side also promoted the “Vietnam International Sourcing 2026” (VIS 2026) program to encourage direct business connections between companies from the two countries. Products introduced to Moroccan partners included coffee, cashew nuts, spices, seafood, processed food, confectionery and consumer goods.
According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Morocco, local businesses viewed Vietnamese products as competitive in quality, featuring diverse designs and well suited to demand in the Moroccan market. Several Moroccan companies expressed interest in establishing direct and long-term import channels with Vietnamese manufacturers, particularly in agricultural products, processed food and consumer goods.
The seminar took place as bilateral trade between Vietnam and Morocco continued to grow. Two-way trade reached around US$380 million in 2025, up 25% compared with 2014. Morocco is currently among Vietnam’s 10 largest export markets in Africa.
Economic ties between the two countries have also been supported by high-level exchanges. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man paid an official visit to Morocco in July 2025 and attended a policy dialogue aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation.
Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, said he hoped cooperation between Morocco and Vietnam would become a model for cooperation between African and Asian countries. He highlighted Vietnam as one of the world’s most open economies, with strengths in agricultural processing, electronics and education.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Morocco plans to continue promoting Vietnamese products this year through major trade fairs in Morocco, including the SIAM Agriculture Exhibition and the SIEMA Food Exhibition, focusing on agricultural products and consumer goods.
