TPP negotiations drag on

(VOV) - On October 3, representatives from the 12 countries taking part in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations agreed to stretch the meeting in Atlanta, the US to the third day in a bid to finalize the negotiation process lasting for more than 5 years.

Prospects for the completion of the TPP agreement are visible as differences between negotiators on automobile parts, patent protection for biological drugs are narrowed.


Japanese Minister of Economy Akira Amari said despite a number of difficulties, he still saw hope for related parties to reach the agreement.

Meanwhile, Canadian Minister of Trade Ed Fast said Canada, Mexico, the US and Japan have initially reached agreement on the proportion of automobile parts originated from countries outside the TPP, thus automobiles can be free from import tariff.
