Thaco Auto expands ASEAN footprint with Mercedes-Benz bus exports to Thailand
VOV.VN - Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco Auto) has exported a batch of Mercedes-Benz RS 1936 buses to Thailand, marking a new step in its cooperation with Daimler Bus, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG.

The move is part of Thaco Auto’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the ASEAN market. The export ceremony took place in Quang Nam Province, with the participation of Daimler Southeast Asia executives, regional distributors from Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, and nearly 30 Thai customers.
By supplying buses to Thailand, a market known for its high standards in transport, Thaco Auto underscores its ambition to integrate deeper into the global value chain. The company not only engages in manufacturing but also invests in research, development, and product customization to meet specific market needs.
Thaco Auto operates a bus manufacturing plant in Chu Lai Industrial Park, one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced facilities. Covering 17 hectares and backed by VND7 trillion in investment, the plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 vehicles and is equipped with automated systems and European-standard technologies.
Currently, Thaco Auto exports buses to the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. It is also ramping up investment in automation and technology to enhance product competitiveness and expand its reach through Daimler’s regional distribution network.
Looking ahead, Thaco Auto plans to introduce more internationally compliant bus models to boost exports and elevate the profile of Vietnamese auto manufacturing in Southeast Asia and beyond.
