The Republic of Korea’s GS Engineering and Construction Corp. (GS E&C) broke the ground on the Tan Son Nhat – Binh Loi ring road project in Ho Chi Minh City on June 9.

The US$340 million road linking Tan Son Nhat International Airport to the Xuan Hiep intersection, is designed to run through the four districts of Tan Binh, Go Vap, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc.

The new ring road, 13.5km long and between 30-65m wide (equivalent to 6 to 12 lanes), is scheduled for completion by 2012.

Addressing the ceremony, GS E&C’s President and CEO, Kim Kab-Ryul, said that the road will link HCM City’s most important industrial zones with the airport and the seaport to make it easier for exporters and also to help solving the city’s current complicated transport system.

Also at the ceremony, GS E&C donated VND2 billion to the four districts involved in the project to build four schools./.
