Swiss-Viet economic forum outlines eight pillars for 2026–2030 cooperation roadmap

VOV.VN - The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum 2026 (SVEF 2026) continued in Hanoi on October 19, focusing on eight strategic areas of cooperation and a proposed roadmap for Vietnam–Switzerland economic ties in 2026–2030, with an emphasis on turning dialogue into practical initiatives and long-term partnerships.

The eight pillars cover finance and capital markets; industrial transformation and supply chains; infrastructure and urban development; energy and sustainable development; innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy; healthcare and life sciences; education and human capital development; and legal frameworks, market entry and value chains.

From strategic priorities to practical cooperation

A key objective of the forum is to develop the SVEF Cooperation Roadmap 2026–2030, supported by working groups, defined objectives and concrete milestones. The proposed framework is intended to provide a basis for follow-up activities and help turn discussions across the eight pillars into practical cooperation.

In finance and capital markets, the agenda includes cross-border capital flows, capital market development and stronger connections with Switzerland’s financial centres. Industrial transformation and supply chains focus on smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and technology cooperation, while infrastructure discussions cover transport and logistics connectivity, smart cities and public-private partnership (PPP) models.

Energy and sustainable development form another priority, encompassing renewable energy, climate finance, environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, and green technologies. The innovation and digital economy pillar covers AI governance, digital infrastructure, financial technology (FinTech), startup ecosystems and cross-border technology cooperation.

Cooperation in healthcare and life sciences includes medical technology, digital health and hospital systems. In education and human capital development, the focus is on dual education models, talent mobility and links between universities and research institutions.

The eighth pillar addresses legal frameworks, market entry and value chains, including corporate law, intellectual property, trade compliance and cross-border dispute resolution.

Beyond these sectoral priorities, the forum places emphasis on developing the people and institutional links needed to sustain long-term cooperation. The SVEF Education & Talent Initiative and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam internship programme are intended to strengthen collaboration in education, training, research and human resource development.

Three-day forum connects policy dialogue with business engagement

The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum 2026 is being held in Hanoi under the theme “From Bilateral Strength to Regional Impact: Advancing Switzerland–Vietnam Partnerships in a Connected Global Economy”. Its main forum day continued on October 19, bringing together government representatives, businesses, financial institutions, academic institutions and multilateral organisations.

Discussions span the bilateral economic agenda, trade and free trade agreement implementation, alongside industrial transformation, supply chains, finance, infrastructure, energy, technology, healthcare and education. Business-to-business matching and networking activities are designed to help companies and organisations identify potential partners and develop cooperation initiatives.

The three-day programme is scheduled to conclude on October 20 with field visits to selected businesses, offering delegates further insight into Vietnam’s investment environment, industrial development and infrastructure.

As Vietnam–Switzerland economic relations enter a new phase, the forum seeks to build stronger connections between the two countries’ economic ecosystems and turn shared priorities into partnerships with lasting benefits.
