SVEF outlines prioritized areas of cooperation between Vietnam and Switzerland

VOV.VN - The Swiss – Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) will explore cooperation opportunities in trade, investment, finance, innovation, and research to help further strengthen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Switzerland in 2025.

Philipp Rösler, president of the SVEF, unveiled the goal during an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency at a ceremony held in Zurich on January 14 to celebrate the organisation’s first anniversary.

He said the SVEF will focus on emerging areas, such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence, and on how the agency can support the establishment of a financial hub in Vietnam.

The SVEF is ready to assist the Vietnamese government in achieving its goals, he stressed.

Vietnam regards Switzerland as an important partner in Europe, while Switzerland recognizes Vietnam as one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia and a strategic regional economic partner.

Economic, trade, and investment ties between the two countries have grown significantly in recent times. Swiss investment funds appreciate Vietnam’s export, tourism, and IT services as potential areas of cooperation.

Ivo Sieber, former Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam, noted the positive development of bilateral economic-trade ties backed by the two governments and business communities, particularly the private sector.

What the SVEF aims to do is to build upon the gains and explore partnerships where untapped potential can be mobilized for private sector stakeholders, he said.

The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum made its debut in Zurich in January 2024, aiming to foster collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth between Vietnamese and Swiss enterprises.

Its target is to create a platform that not only helps to improve mutual understanding but also promotes deep interactions and innovation partnership between Vietnam and Switzerland.

The SVEF promotes Vietnam’s advantages, such as strategic geographic location, social-political stability, and skilled workforce in an effort to make Vietnam an appealing destination for international investment.
