Sunwah keen to explore investment opportunities in Binh Duong
VOV.VN - Conglomerate Sunwah of Hong Kong (China) recently surveyed a number of industrial parks in the southern province of Binh Duong, southern Vietnam, in an effort to seek investment opportunities in the locality.
At the December 16 reception for Jonathan Choi, chairman of Sunwah Group, Vo Van Minh, chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, said that the province has so far attracted nearly 4,400 investment projects from 65 countries and territories with a total registered capital of US$42.3 billion.
At present, the locality ranks second in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment after Ho Chi Minh City.
Minh also revealed that Binh Duong plans to prioritise attracting investment in the fields of high-tech, environmentally friendly, and less labour-intensive industries, as well as high-value added industries.
He expected that Sunwah would find investment opportunities and expand operations in Vietnam and Binh Duong province in particular.
For his part, Choi said that the group has surveyed a number of industrial parks in order to sound out investment opportunities in the spheres of high technology, health care, education, and real estate.
He emphasised that apart from being a foreign investor, Sunwah will act as a bridge between the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Guangdong - Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs' Alliance to inject additional money into the Vietnamese market in general, and Binh Duong in particular.
The conglomerate recently signed a memorandum of understanding on co-operation with Industrial Development Corporation (Becamex IDC Corp) to develop green industrial parks in Binh Duong.
If Vietnam wishes to develop numerous green industrial parks, a special incentive mechanisms for companies investing in this field is needed, suggested Choi.
He noted that in order to successfully develop the green industrial park model, Vietnam is required to refer to the models which cities around the world have successfully deployed.
