US sandwich chain Subway plans to open its first Vietnamese store in HCM City in August, said Fred DeLuca, president and cofounder of the chain.
DeLuca unveiled a plan to develop a chain of 25 Subway restaurants in Vietnam in the next five years at a press conference in HCM City on Monday.
Construction cost is around US$100,000 for each subway store under the franchise model.
Subway is the largest submarine sandwich chain and the second largest fast-food chain in the world, with more than 32,000 locations in 91 countries.
In 2009, worldwide sales reached more than $13 billion.
Vietnam is the tenth Asian country which the company has chosen to invest in.
