Steering committee set up to build foreign-invested economy development scheme

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 29 signed a decision to establish a steering committee tasked with developing a scheme for foreign-invested economy development.

Under the decision, Prime Minister Chinh will serve as its head. Deputy heads include Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, who will act as standing deputy head, directly overseeing the formulation of the scheme, and Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang, who will manage coordination and implementation.

Members comprise high-ranking officials from ministries and ministry-level agencies, including the ministries of national defence, public security, construction, finance, industry and trade, agriculture and environment, science and technology; and justice, along with the Government Office and the State Bank of Vietnam.

Also on the panel are the chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, and Hue, plus representatives from the Party Central Committee for Policies and Strategies and the 15th National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Affairs Committee.

The Ministry of Finance will act as the standing agency assisting the committee in drafting the plan for submission to the Politburo for consideration. The Finance Minister is authorised to establish a drafting team.

The committee will operate on a part-time basis, following the principles of democratic centralism, open discussion, and unified direction.

The decision took effect on the date of signing.
