Six Vietnamese billionaires named on Forbes 2024 list

VOV.VN - Forbes has updated its list of the world's billionaires for this year, with six billionaires from Vietnam making the latest rankings.

According to Forbes, the current six Vietnamese billionaires are Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vingroup; Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of VietJet Air; Tran Dinh Long, chairman of Hoa Phat; Ho Hung Anh, chairman of Techcombank; Tran Ba Duong, chairman of Thaco; and Nguyen Dang Quang, chairman of Masan.

Aside from Quang and Duong, all of the remaining billionaires recorded an increase in their value of assets compared to last year.

Vuong, who is the owner of Vingroup which is the largest Vietnamese private conglomerate, topped the list as the nation’s richest man with a net worth of US$4.4 billion, ranking 712nd globally. In the last trading season of 2023, his assets increased by an additional US$7 million after VHM of Vinhomes rose by US$2 to reach US$41,800 per share, VRE of Vincom Retail was up by 0.9%, and VIC of Vingroup increased by 2%.

The only female Vietnamese billionaire to make the list was Thao, who reportedly has total assets of US$2.8 billion, ranking 1,187th globally. She is s currently CEO of VietJet Air and is also cofounder and chairwoman of Sovico Holdings, a leading investment group in the country.

Elsewhere on the list, Long, founder and chairman of steelmaker Hoa Phat Corp, ranked in 1,286th place overall with a net worth of US$2.6 billion.

Elsewhere, Anh appears on the list for the sixth time, boasting a net worth of US$1.7 billion and finishing 1,851st overall.

Meanwhile, both Duong and Quang shared 2,410th place on the list with a net worth of US$1.2 billion each.
