SIBUR boosts Vietnam footprint ahead of Amur output
VOV.VN - Russia’s petrochemical group SIBUR is expanding its presence in Vietnam as construction of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (Amur GCC), one of the world’s largest polymer production facilities, nears completion and prepares to bring products to market from 2026.
SIBUR said on January 23 that the Amur GCC project in Russia’s Far East had reached 92% completion by the end of 2025. The complex is designed to produce 2.3 million tonnes of polyethylene and 400,000 tonnes of polypropylene annually, with the first commercial shipments of polyethylene expected in the third quarter of 2026.
Located close to China and Pacific ports, the Amur complex is expected to provide logistical advantages for exports to Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. SIBUR has increased polymer supplies to the Vietnamese market since 2021, serving sectors such as packaging, industrial plastics and consumer goods manufacturing.
The group said it is also expanding logistics support and technical services for customers, describing Vietnam as one of its strategic markets in Southeast Asia.
