Vietnam is steering its seafood industry toward sustainable development, ensuring high quality, hygiene and reasonable prices.

The first Vietnamese seafood festival, which ended in Can Tho city on April 27, gathered scientists, farmers, and businesses in this field, and opened up many new opportunities for the country’s seafood sector to take a giant leap forward.

The four-day event, including nearly 20 related activities, was visited by nearly one million people and saw five Guinness Vietnam certificates awarded.

The Seafood Trade Fair, part of the festival, had up to 470 stands and saw the signing of contracts and agreements worth more than VND260 billion in total.

Meanwhile, a seminar on Vietnamese seafood analysed the industry’s ‘hot’ growth, especially in the Mekong Delta. It also provided farmers and fishermen with new methods and solutions to boost links between them in investment, breeding, processing, and selling.

The festival will bring provinces, cities, and enterprises closer together and enable them to build strong seafood trademarks and integrate deeper into the global economy.
