Seafood export earnings surge 6.8% in 11 months
Vietnam’s seafood export turnover in November reached US$852 million, raising the total value in 11 months to US$8.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%.

Main contributors to the increase were tra fish (US$2 billion), tuna and cuttlefish (US$600 million) and octopus (US$609 million).
The Agro Processing and Market Development Authority (AgroTrade) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the US, Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea were the four largest importers of Vietnamese seafood.
Meanwhile, markets with strong growth are Thailand (17.1%), the UK (14.5%), the Republic of Korea (12.2%) and Australia (11%).
During January-November, the country spent US$1.58 billion purchasing seafood from foreign countries, up 21.3% from the same time in 2017.
The AgroTrade gave positive outlook for shrimp shipment in December and at the outset of 2019 as supply from large importers have dwindled dramatically.
