Russia proposes free trade alliance with Vietnam

(VOV) - Vietnam is an economic powerhouse and the gateway to the Asian market, wrote Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Aleksei Lykhachev, in a leading Russian newspaper on October 23.

Negotiations are underway to finalise a free trade agreement, which will lead to expanded trade and investment with Vietnam, Lykhachev said, adding Russian business enterprises are eying prospects to construct a number of manufacturing facilities in the Southeast Asian nation.

In the RossyiaskayaGazeta article, Lykhachevsaid Russia is currently negotiating with 30 countries to create a free trade area and Vietnam will be the first member of the new Asia-Europe Business Alliance.
