Retail petrol prices rise after three consecutive decreases

VOV.VN - The retail prices of petrol in Vietnam were slightly increased in the latest joint adjustment on May 22 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

Accordingly, from 3pm, the price of E5 RON 92 petrol went up VND350 to VND20,480 per litre, while that of RON 95 rose by VND490 to VND21,490 per litre.

The price of diesel oil inched up VND300 to VND17,950 per litre.

The petrol price hike was adjusted following three decreases in a row.

For this price adjustment, the two ministries decided to extract VND300 per litre from petrol for the petrol price stabilisation fund.

In mid-May, local retail petroleum trading businesses requested that the Government issue a new decree to help iron out the snags faced by the businesses.

They complained that the majority of the retail petroleum trading businesses have sustained a serious loss due to shortcomings in implementing the current Government decree.

They expected that a new decree would be issued in the second quarter at the latest to help the businesses operate efficiently and ensure national energy security.
